More from the Tailgate!

ODU's First CAA Game A Success, Including The Biggest Tailgate Yet!

ODU played William and Mary tough, even holding a late 3 point lead before falling 21-17 in ODU's first game vs CAA and Nationally ranked power house William and Mary. This looks to be a a rivalry we can enjoy for many years to come.

The Tailgate was huge, and we were greeted by perfect weather, low 80's and sunshine! The set was like last week's, only 10x bigger. More food, more beer, more people and ODU biggest party yet!

Edgar continues his dominance over the grill early in the day! This is about 3:10, and the crowds are just starting to gather.

Mike B and his crew arrive and start their set up next to us. Mike, a member of ODU's basketball 1000 point scoring club, for a rookie, can actually tailgate. He did hold court on the beer pong table for a long while, but only because I didn't set up to take it over.

Winners of our first 3 games of beer pong, Myself and Kevin decide Marc and "Alexandria" is hardly a challenge!

That's the stare of a champion!

That is the pose of losers!!

The lot is heating up in the first hour, corn hole becomes the drinking game of choice, as beer pong seems to exact a toll on everyone. "Skippy" and Beer Pong should not mix.

Some of the other set ups on the lot, people are wall to wall at this point!

Fresh off Brain Surgery, Boozer is being schooled by Mike Williams and Mike B. I attest this to the recently drilled holes in Boozer's head, no way he should ever lose a drinking game.

Doro and Christoffer, making nice for the camera!

Mike Williams wondering where he is, and why he is being carried by Mike B in Beer Pong...one word...Skippy!

L is for Love, especially in this pictures, because we don't hang out with loser!

Yes, there was a sold out game also!! ODU held a late lead.

William and Mary, Welcome To The Blue And White Jungle

ODU is being given no chance against CAA National Power House William and Mary this weekend, and that's just how Big Blue likes it. ODU has nothing to lose against W&M and they have everything to lose. One thing is for sure though, Big Blue will be rocking SB Ballard Stadium, and there will be huge tailgate parties.

Big Blues also rolls vs Campbell, beating the Camels in their home stadium to warm up for W&M!

The welcome mat is out, the tailgates are firing up, and this nationally televised game is the biggest ever for ODU. It's the first step into the CAA, and I know I speak for Big Blue fans everywhere, we can't wait!

More From The Jacksonville Tailgate

Jeff, Myself, and Chef pause for a moment during set up to take a group photo. This is your basic "before" picture, as the "after" pictures will paint us in a much different light. Behind us are the two grills warming up, beer pong and corn hole being set up. Please note that I have the first beer of the day in my possession!

Hey, girls love to tailgate also! Karen, Dorothy and Susan stake out a spot on the end of our encampment as the set process continues. Since we were and are gentlemen, the ladies were required to only relax as the men set up the camp! Please note the beverages being consumed, as this would be the trend for the day.

As the day progressed, the games become more serious. Marc and his father-in-law were holding the Beer Pong board, but paying a heavy price. As the wins, and the drinks mounted, "jolly" Marc emerged, and his father-in-law became drunk "Linus". It's about 3:30pm, game started at 6pm, but the lot is filling fast now. The lot would be 100% full by 4pm, but I encourage all green lot folks to get there four hours ahead of time, to take advantage of the maximum tailgate time allowed by law.

Beer Pong is being dominated by the younger crowd early, while the "older", wiser, more experienced crowd imbued beverages at a staggering rate, to limber up the muscles and get prepared to storm the courts and dominate!

ODU Opens Season With A Dissapointing Loss And A Great Tailgate!

Every week, I will be bringing the Big Blue Fans the best of the Green Lot Tailgates and Fun that goes on before a game. This week's game vs Jacksonville was a sell out, and the Green Lot filled up about 4pm. Come Green Folks, lets all get there at 2pm and make sure we get all the tailgating in we can!

Everyone knows the key to any tailgate is the food. You reel them in with the smell of the grill, you offer them cold beverages and you make tailgate friends for life! This handsome young man is making an offering of the finest grilled meats, from Shop Wise Butcher Market in Virginia Beach. Although it's hard to tell, I know there is hot Italian Sausage, Yoshida Grilled Pork Chops and Secret Steak (which is actually a Shop Wise Secret!)

Now everyone tailgate has some point in time, when foods to start to run low, and adult beverages run high, when the crowd grows restless. Yours truly decided that the grill needed some "Dark Meat" and Edgar Castillo was the perfect choice. Although Mr. Castillo was never cooked, he had a smoking time!!

The crew works the grill to perfection, much red meat was consumed, along with Edgar's special punch. (1 5th of Vodka, 1 case of Natural Light, 3 containers of frozen lemonade, mix well, and hold on) This drink went to cause many a long night and painful morning during the tailgate. In the background, the Beer Pong Championship is going, along with some knock out Corn Hole Tournaments, a tailgate staple!

During a tailgate, in which lots of food and adult beverages are consumed, there is little time for couples to have private moments. Here, Jeff and Susan enjoy a rare quite moment together, isn't tailgating and love grand? Notice how Susan can enjoy the moment and balance her drink!

The crowd at the game was fantastic, the wave was going for about 15 minutes, everyone was enjoying themselves, and it was a nail bitter, with ODU storming back all day from behind. In the end, a costly interception in the endzone spelled their doom, but Big Blue will be ready for next week!
